This picture is taken during installation of the sling stays, these are the flat plates held top and bottom by new steel pins and split pins. We have now brought the new section of boiler barrel into the workshop and have made a start on preparing it for fitting. This mainly consists of grinding the seam weld (the barrel is formed from a flat plate, rolled to a cylinder with the join being welded) flush to enable the fitting of the new tubeplate and also where it fits and overlaps the rear barrel section.
