Looking back at Cranmore and down the 1 in 70 incline, Merryfield Lane halt is just behind us. Merryfield Lane Halt, the adjacent siding (full of freight stock) and the line onto Mendip Vale. In the distance can be seen the old Tramway bridge, now a farm access. Merryfield Lane halt looking back towards Cranmore. The line on towards Mendip Vale, with a train just coming into view after climbing the incline through the cutting. Taken from Maesdown Road bridge (the only publically accessible overbridge on the line) shows the cutting with Merryfield Lane just around the corner at the top of picture. The line is on a 1 in 56 gradient here, which makes it a prime spot for taking pictures.
