Meanwhile, on the miniature railway, a works train brings spoil to the permanent way gang A group of Scouts dig out ballast ready for transportation to the station area. ESR Fireman Ken Slade oversees raising of the track bed at the station approach of what will eventually become platform 2. Back at the station it`s nearly time for lunch and the first coach is almost done. Although the temperature is in single figures we brave lunch at the lineside picnic area.
