Photo Gallery for 'Merryfield Lane'

Merryfield Lane Halt is at the summit of the railway and consists of a single platform along and an adjacent picnic area. Merryfield Lane Halt was built in 1981 and formed the terminus of the line until the extension to Mendip Vale opened in 1985. The siding is the remains of the run round loop that was used until the extension opened. Merryfield Lane is on the site of Doulting Siding which served the Doulting Stone Works, the remains of which can still be seen on the other side of the line from the platform. From here, tramways went off in several directions to serve nearby quarries and the stone was dressed at the Works before being transported by rail.
