New Year's Day at Cranmore has seen us operate our ususal 'Hangover Special' with over sixty people braving the cold and the rain to travel in style in the ESR's first class carriages, all warmed by steam from the engine.

Rostered for the New Year Day's services was ex GW 56xx 0-6-2T nr 5637 with Driver Brian Laitt in charge and fired by Dave Golden-Hann both of who were up early to make sure the engine was off shed in time! Carrying out his first Guard's duty since qualifying as a Guard on Christmas Eve is Malcolm Sadler - congratulations to him.

Following the return of the 15:00 service, public trains on the ESR stop until March to allow routine maintenance to take place. A fully packed programme is planned including Refurbishment of the Ticket Office, work on the footpath, work to diamond crossing at Cranmore Station and the completion of Lady Nan's overhaul.
