The project to reinstate the mechanical signalling to Cranmore Station has gained momentum with the erection, in early July, of the starting signal for the (currently disused) Down Platform. This signal, carrying a cross indicating that it is out of use, has been accurately placed in position (to the nearest sleeper) with the use of record drawings.
Also erected, and just visible to the left of 30075's bunker, is the signal post that will act as the advanced starter giving access to the Main line from either the Down Platform or the Tanker Sidings. Jeff Bown installed the post over the August Bank Holiday weekend and the signal arm and ladder will follow shortly.
The ESR is urgently seeking donations of signalling equipment to progress the project. The frame, from Coombe Junction, is already onsite and undergoing restoration, but many other items are required from signal arms and posts to block machines. In particular we are urgently seeking a gantry signal to act as the Cranmore Home signal giving access to either the up or down platforms.
If you have any items that you might be able to donate or loan the ESR for this project or would like to volunteer your services to help in the many tasks that need doing then please contact the Signal & Telegraph Engineer, Chris Shermon, through Cranmore Station at the address on the "contacts" page or by email on email@example.com
