Donations to the East Somerset RailwayThe East Somerset Railway is grateful to receive many donations each year, both large and small, which help us to fund projects that otherwise, might not happen. Donations are so important, not just because of the work which they directly enable, but also because the progress thus made interests and encourages everyone who comes to the railway. And of course, if the donor completes a Gift Aid declaration, we are able to recover from HMR&C an amount equivalent to the tax they have paid on their donations at no cost to themselves. Completion of the overhaul of 5637 Reinstatement of the Engine Shed roof Replacement of 250 sleepers Construction of the Water Tower Purchase of a carriage and the material to reupholster it How to DonateA One-off PaymentIf you want to make a donation, perhaps for a project in which you are interested or to top up your annual subscription, you can simply send us a cheque, or now you can make a payment online You can specify whether you want your donation to be used for a particular purpose or added to general funds to help pay for the less glamorous things such as insurance, electricity or even coal! Regular Donations by Standing OrderMaking a small, regular donation by bank standing order is an inexpensive way of helping the ESR. If you would like to make a donation this way it can easily be arranged through your bank. Most banks have facilities to set up a standing order online By LegacyFor the ESR, like many charities, a legacy provides more substantial funding and a way of helping to remember the life of someone who supported the ESR. This is an excellent way of donating a larger sum, perhaps to help move a major project forward. So please remember us when making or updating your will. |
