Cranmore Traincare and Maintenance Services
Cranmore Traincare and Maintenance Services (CTMS) was established in July 1995 at Cranmore on the East Somerset Railway as a trading division of Cranmore Railway Co. Ltd., which is the commercial arm of the East Somerset Railway, a registered charity.
Facilities were set up at Cranmore in early 1995 to provide a base for a carriage overhaul business to be available to both heritage railways and main line charter operators alike
Since 1995, CTMS has been undertaking quality carriage overhauls for customers across the UK. Specialising on body overhaul of Mark 1 and Mark 2 coaches, work on Mark 3 coaches, wagons and locomotives (both steam & diesel) has also been undertaken in our well equipped workshops at Cranmore.
CTMS has the experience, skills and abilities to undertake both heavy body overhauls and vehicle conversions, quality repaints, body component repairs and supply and can undertake bogie and running gear overhauls to heritage railway standards. CTMS also has quality systems in place to monitor conformance.
CTMS has no shareholders, any profits made are transferred to the East Somerset Railway for the benefit of the preservation of its railway heritage.
Barry Buckfield, Contract Manager
Served a BR apprenticeship at Eastleigh Works as a Coach Bodymaker on Mark 1 and pre-nationalisation vehicles. Has over 50 years experience in coach body overhaul and maintenance.
Trevor Keirl, Production Manager
Trevor joined CTMS in May 2013 following a long career in the manufacturing industry working up to the position of senior manager. He has a long experience in the managing of production teams with specialties in continuious improvement process in order to improve business performance through workload planning and the use on lean techniques.
Has been with CTMS since 2005. Expertise in coach painting and body restoration from experience in the automotive industry.
Jeff Bown, Vehicle Builder/Welder
Has been with CTMS since 1997, expert in steel fabrication, welding and heavy timber work. Has vast knowledge of vehicle components.
Bruce Maskery, Vehicle Builder
Joined CTMS in September 2014, a qualified machine engineer, Bruce brings good general engineering, woodworking and painting skills to the business.
Tyrone Paul, Vehicle Builder/Welder
Joined CTMS in September 2014 as a second Year Engineering Apprentice learning welding & fabrication skills along with woodworking proficiency. Tyrone qualified in September 2016 and is now a fully integrated team member - WELL DONE TYRONE ON PASSING YOUR APPRENTICESHIP
Robert Mcletchie, Vehicle Builder
Robert Mcletchie joined the team in May 2016 as a vehicle builder. Robert has many years experience in body preparation and painting as well as restoration of old vehicles.
Twenty Years of Service
June 2015 saw CTMS achieve 20 years in business. During that time CTMS has overhauled and/or repainted over 100 vehicles, including Mark 1 and Mark 2 coaches, luggage vans, steam and diesel locomotives and a number of historic wagons for both the heritage and charter markets.
