The East Somerset Railway produces a quality magazine which is sent free to ESR members, and is also available for purchase at the Railway's Cranmore station shop. The primary purpose of the Journal is to chronicle and keep members informed of news, events and developments from the line.

The Editor is pleased to receive readers news, views, articles and photographs for possible use in the Journal. Email submissions are preferred, posted material should be sent to Cranmore Station and is sent at the contributor's own risk, please enclose an SAE if you require acknowledgement of receipt. All submissions will be credited where used. Please ensure that photographs sent by email are of sufficiently high resolution for print reproduction. Photographs in which children under the age of 18 are recognizable cannot be used unless a parental consent form has been completed and lodged with the ticket office. The ESR is a voluntary body and fees are not normally paid for contributions. Constructive comments and suggestions about the Journal are also welcome.
The ESR Journal is usually published three times a year with one issue in colour, and has evolved into a quality publication containing feature articles and news items from all departments covering engines, workshops, carriage and wagon, permanent way, signalling, special events etc, letters, information and many photographs in both colour and black & white.
