With very few paid staff, the railway is completely reliant on its volunteers.
Without our volunteers, the railway would not open and trains would not run.
Volunteers provide their time in many different tasks, such as:-
?Welcoming and helping our visitors
?On the footplate as Driver or Fireman
?As Guard to operate our trains
?Staffing the Ticket Office
?
Help is needed in other specialised areas as well:
?Maintaining and restoring engines and stock
?Maintaining trackwork and signalling
?Maintaining our buildings and grounds
Some volunteer jobs require an amount of on site training. Time required is down to how
much time you want to give, usually a day or even a few hours as and when you can.
